Vancouver, May 27, 2005 - Today Prosilica announced the release of their EC1380 digital megapixel CCD camera for industrial applications. The EC1380 extends Prosilica's broad line of IEEE 1394-based industrial cameras supplying superior image quality, fast frame rates, and ultra-compact size. This high-performance digital CCD camera with Firewire interface (IEEE-1394) is available in monochrome or color models. "The ultra compact EC1380 incorporates the incomparable Sony ICX285 CCD progressive scan sensor with ExView HAD technology making it one of the most sensitive cameras on the market. This camera marks a new height of performance and image quality that, until now, was found only in much more expensive cameras. The EC1380 is the smallest, and fastest '285-based firewire camera on the market and represents the highest quality machine vision camera", said Marty Furse, CEO of Prosilica, "This camera is ideal for a wide range of applications where sensitivity, image quality, size, weight or framerates are key requirements". The EC1380 has been optimized for speed and miniaturized to fit into tight areas that are common in machine vision and aerospace applications. The ultra-compact size, light weight, and rugged design make it ideal for avionics, robotic semiconductor inspection, and other applications where size and weight are an issue. Features such as binning (2x2, 4x4) increase sensitivity and speed and are normally found only on larger, more expensive cameras. Region of interest readout, multiple color formats, firewire interface, external trigger and sync I/O are only some of the advanced features that make the EC1380 such an excellent camera. The EC1380C color camera has on-board color interpolation for RGB24, YUV4:1:1, YUV4:2:2, in addition to raw Bayer output. The EC-1380 is truly plug-and-play. It does not require a framegrabber but communicates with the host computer through an IEEE-1394 (Firewire) interface. Software for the camera includes Prosilica's ProViewer application, the camera driver, and Prosilica's ProSDK software development kit which are available to customers free of charge. The EC1380 is DCAM-compliant (IIDC 1.31) and can be used with a wide range of popular industrial imaging software. About
