IEEE-1394 Cable with Screw Captivation

Prosilica offers a range of IEEE-1394 cable lengths and types for connecting Prosilica cameras.

Typically, firewire does not have any screw captivation (see right side of image). However, Prosilica CV-Series cameras can accept screw-captivated cable ends like the one shown here (left side of image). Screw captivated cables are not necessary to operate the cameras, but are useful in industrial environments. These are available from Prosilica.

The NI Compact Vision System also accepts these screw-captivated IEEE-1394 cables to provide, together with Prosilica cameras, an industrial strength firewire connection.

The captivated cable can be used for any 6-pin IEEE-1394 connection so long as no mechanical interference prevents fit of the larger connector.
