Sensor Grades for Kodak KAI-11002 and KAI-16000 image sensors
Kodak offers various sensor classes for its highest resolution, large-format, CCD sensors. The sensor class refers to the number and type of major pixel defects allowable for the particular grade. Class 0 sensors are the best, Class 1 has some defects, and Class 2 has more.
Prosilica's GE4000 and GE4900 standard models use class 2 grade image sensors. These cameras have a defect correction feature that corrects for column defects. This feature may be turned on or off. Column defect correction is a suitable method for achieving a high image quality suitable for numeric processing. Without such defect correction, some image processing algorithms would have problems handling the defective pixels.
Because some applications require higher grade sensors and cannot tolerate any column correction, Prosilica also offers versions of the GE4000 and GE4900 that have higher grade sensors indicated by a C1 or C0 suffix (the standard grade products do not have a suffix):
GE4000-C1 (class 1)
GE4000C-C1 (class 1 color)
GE4000-C0 (class 0)
GE4000C-C0 (class 0 color)
GE4900-C1 (class 1)
GE4900C-C1 (class1 color)
