National Instruments

Prosilica cameras are fully compatible with NI's IMAQ1394 and have been tested with Labview 7.0 and Vision Builder AI 2.0 by Prosilica. National Instruments has also tested Prosilica's cameras and confirmed compatibility.

Here are some things to be aware of:

You must use the correct driver

Always configure the camera in NI's Measurement and Automation Explorer. You may need to choose the correct driver first by right clicking the camera (which you will find in MySystem > Devices and Interfaces > NI-IMAQ IEEE 1394 Devices) and choosing the NI-IMAQ driver.

Note: Do not use the version 1.51 driver. Use version 1.50, 1.52, or higher. There is a known issue with 1.51 that prevents proper operation of Prosilica cameras.

You need to configure the camera

If this is the first time that you are using the camera, set the following configuration in MAX (under My System->Devices and Interfaces->NI-IMAQ IEEE1394 Devices->cam# : Prosilica Digital Camera):

  • Under the Features tab, set brightness to "off", gamma to "off", and gain to "off".
  • Under the Video tab, set Video Mode to "Scalable Image, Mode 0" and set Packet size to "4096" [if you have more than one camera connected, divide 4096 by the number of cameras and use a number smaller than the result as the Packet Size]
  • Click "Save" on the General tab to retain this configuration.n
